Power of Good, in its 6th year with partners The Spark Mill and HandsOn Greater Richmond, a program of the Community Foundation, is a celebration for National Volunteer Week to honor those who power good in our community.
As believers that nonprofits can and do change the world, and that volunteers are essential to making that happen, this is our platform of thanks. We want to recognize all those in the region and are asking nonprofits, faith communities, schools, friends, and family to submit the people they know who power good.
Tradition and Past Celebrations
In case you’ve missed it, the past years have been full of creativity and art and fun and a little wine…as we partnered with local artists to celebrate some of the nominees. 2014 had artist Tiffany Glass Ferreira transform a selected group into Shrinky Dink Selfies. In 2015 "Kindness Girl" Patience Salgado presented a photographic documentary of 10 randomly selected nominees and local RVA area artists donated works as part of a silent auction benefiting HandsOn Greater Richmond and all of the fabulous work they do with volunteers throughout the metro Richmond area. In 2016 we ran a social media campaign using the words from your volunteer recognition forms to create a word cloud representing how we power good together. Our largest yet in 2017, over 250 honorees gathered with their nonprofits, family and friends over food and drinks and pictures.
